Description
Rustic wooden crucifix made with mesquite trunk. It is named as kus testiko. It is placed at the main entrance of traditional Yaqui homes, in order to impose respect on all visitors, who will be received behind the cross and after the alaewame (congratulations) ritual, go inside the house. It represents the syncretism of the Catholic religion with the cosmogonic beliefs of the Yaqui people for more than four centuries.
